DatsiK Questions - ANSWERED!

DatsiK has answered all of the questions asked by you, so here they are:

1) I'm guessing your main VST is Massive so how do you get such a transformer/computerised sound to your synths?

All about post processing.. Once you have your sound, bounce it to audio and try different types of distortion, duplicate the channel and pan them, chorus, flange, etc, etc..

2) Where did your name "datsik" originate from?

I used to be a avid xbox gamer, was my character name in halo lol

3) As before, which VSTs you using mainly?

I rinse massive pretty hard, been recently toyin about with the fab filter plugins alot too..

4) Which DAW do you use and do you have any favourite plugins?

Thanks dude!, i use Logic 9

5) When are you coming to the UK?

Plan on comin to the UK eventually, it will more than likely be a tour when i come over.. but hopefully soon man still in the works!

6) If I ever wanted to send you a tune where would I send it to? :D

If you wanna send me tunes u can email them to djdatsik@gmail.com!

7) I'm going for a question similar as the first one: how do you manipulate your synths beyond recognition yet so rock-solid and dead on?

Alot of weed/post processing, re-processing and re-bouncing, deviding it up etc.

8) How the hell is your bass so grimy, I try so hard to get it like in the track havoc, never can get it.

Keep tryin man, along the way you'll end up crafting your own sound

9) When are you comming to romania?

Not sure about Romania, if the right oppurtunity arises i might end up out there :)

10) What is your favourite song of all time??

I got no 1 favorite song.. I was a super big hip-hop head turned dubstep, I used to all bout old skool method man and wu-tang, but in dubstep my inspiration changes quickly as the wind.

Thanks to DatsiK for answering the questions, and thanks to you for providing him with questions!

Till next time..

DatsiK - Submit your questions!

http://www.myspace.com/djdatsik

Earlier on this year I heard of a damn right dirty dubstep producer from Canada called DatsiK, so I checked out his myspace: 4000 views. I started listening to his music and new he was going to be big, 8 months on and his views are nearly breaking 100,000. He's developing his sound everytime he produces, yet still keeps the same "DatsiK" feel to each of his songs! With releases already on Beatport , and many more to come, this 21 year old producer has a good future ahead of him.

Now, it's time for you to submit your questions to DatsiK! Post questions in the comment box.

Have fun!

Borgore Questions - ANSWERED!

After a month or so of letting the questions develop, we've amassed a total of 10 questions and I'm basing the slightly low number on this being a new blog. Hopefully as this develops, more and more people will ask questions :)

Here's the first lot; asked by you, answered by a true dubhead Borgore:

1) What's the most important piece of equipment to you, that you use?

I'd say my Roland TD20 drum kit, helps me get some drumming ideas for my tunes, keep them on the metal side.

2) Do you manage the lowest frequencies in your project studio or it´s sound engineer´s work?

I'm doing everything by myself (mix, though my mastering involves only 12 on the master I'd say mastering as well ha ), I own a big ass sub monitor that helps me keep of track on my lows.

3) What's your favourite type of biscuit and aftershave?

It's hard in Israel, it's hella humid so I like the Gillette roll on one, pretty damn powerful... and as far as biscuit umm lets change it to choclate bar and it's sneakers.

4) Whats your biggest influence in:

  • Hiphop - Dr.Dre , Ludacris , Neptunes , Kanye , Snoop , all the big ass producers from the U.S period, they took underground to mainstream, quite what I'm trying 2 do.
  • Metal - I'd say Deftones but damn, what about Death Sepultura, At The Gates, Lamb of God and like a milion more!

Electronic music:

  • Techno - Mr Oizo
  • DnB - DJ Hype, Dubplate Killaz Mixtape
  • Breakcore - Alec Empire, The Destroyer

I love Jump up #@$@#

  • Dubstep - It changes non stop but well I started with Benga, Rusko. Then I was looking for more radical stuff and found out about Bar 9 who were the biggest influence in making Guided (Guided Relaxation Dub) and the stuff coming out after it. Now there are so many talented rookies that I try to take somting from everyone :D.

5) How soon your LP will be?

I'm selling this sort of LP/CD at my shows , its the Shift Recordings release plus 5 more tunzes but its nothing formal ha! Dubstep is more of EP/Singles genre isnit?

6) What is in your player now?

Lyptical - Hit Me

7) Who is your favourite dubstep producer?

Well again, I'd say that when I started Benga, Rusko, Reso etc. were like the most amazing for me but now these guys are going more mainstream (where the money is) and I dont blame them. So these days, I like rinsing Tomba, 16 Bit, DatsiK, Cookie Monstera and Mr Curtamos etc...

8) Who would you call the "ambassador" of dub?

Well, if ambassador means the dude who exposes our style to the biggest population then I'd say T2, Crookz, Chase and Status, Diplo, even Wiley and Dizzy are ambassadors for dub. I can say that I've got a lot of non-dubstep loving fans because my music is more dynamic and has lyrics to it quite a lot, still aint the ambassador though, probably the assistant ha!

9) How did you first get into producing dubstep

Heard Benga in a Dubstep haters bar by mistake and thought damn that's much better than either Trance or DnB, this shit is the shit!

10) What program do you mostly use?

I'm on Cubase, I use Native Instrument's Massive mostly as a synth VST, Battery as the sampler and now I've just got my SSL DSP FX , damn!!!

Thank you all for asking these questions, but thanks a lot to Borgore for taking the time to answer these questions!

Borgore wants your questions!

Borgore has agreed to be the first person to face your questions.

For those of you that don't know Borgore check his myspace:

http://www.myspace.com/borgore

Borgore is an up and coming dubstep producer and also the drummer in metal band Shabira. His tracks have stormed the dubstep scene with his trademark dirty synth sounds noticeable when the track drops.

His first release Gorestep Volume 1 contains a variety of tracks, some showing his metal band influence others are just damn right dirty!

He has many forthcoming releases, which you will like rather a lot!

Courtesy of Borgore, he's enabled you to download an awesome remix by 16 bit! The track is called Foes and has been remixed 16bit, the Dr Dre style synth and heavy beat make this track a banger!

You can download the track here!

Now for your questions, please post them in the comment box but keep them relevant!

Welcome!

Welcome to Talkin' Dubz, where dubheadz get talkin'!

I've set up this site to let the dubheadz ask questions to the producers instead of the blogs asking their own.

I will ask for your questions and when it amounts to a good number, I will select 10 from them and forward them to the producers.

Have fun!
